Myself and Sarah Jane have been travelling in south east Asia for the past year, and we have spent a considerable amount of time in Canggu, a very western idealized part of Bali. Canggu is a hub for young people who identify as digital nomads, crypto millionaires, surfers, thrill seekers, and models. They live an idealized tropical life awash with coffee shops, co working spaces, beaches, and bars. Life is exciting, fast, and ever changing. Covid 19 was in the back of their minds. When the whole world was gripped by the pandemic, it was surreal to live in this removed other world.
Canggu is a post pandemic utopia, where the next generation of young people are carving out what the world may become. I hope through these photos I can give people a possible glimpse into the future world post pandemic, a world viewed with rose tinted glasses. These photos are an amalgamation of my past life represented by my Irish friend Sarah jane, and a future life filled with possibilities. This future life is represented by the artistic creation of the shot and the location it was taken, the utopia that is Canggu
